Fall News from Addgene

blugene_apple-2

We’re well into the start of the academic year and here around Addgene HQ, it’s starting to feel like fall. Though the seasons are changing around us (and we're preparing for our annual Halloween costume contest), there's one thing that’s constant at Addgene: the number of plasmids and viral vectors we’re helping you share with the scientific community is always increasing. With so many reagents in the collection, it might be a bit overwhelming to find the new things you may be interested in.

But don’t fret! We have many ways to help make it easier to find what you need. Navigate to our new menu on our homepage and click on “Browse Catalog” where you can search by viral vector or plasmid category. You can also find the search bar at the top of this menu. Our blog features quarterly updates to highlight some of the new deposits: Hot plasmids, What’s new in CRISPR, and New and Upcoming Viral Vectors. Lastly, be sure to subscribe to the blog and follow us on Twitter for even more plasmid and viral vector updates.

PS - Fun fact: Over the summer, we delivered our first shipments to Morocco and Mauritius!

Studying Behavior Using Viral Vectors

By using viral vectors for behavioral research, neuroscientists can more precisely link neuronal activity to behavior. We’ve compiled a quick guide for getting started with viral vectors for behavioral research including some general considerations for designing behavioral assays, choosing serotypes, genetic manipulation, and more.
