Addgene antibodies plasmid collection

Addgene Newsletter, May 2021

Hi there,

Addgene’s bringing you a whole new antibody experience! 🎉

Funded by a grant from the National Institute of Health’s Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies® (BRAIN) Initiative, we’re building out a platform for open sharing of antibodies. We will have two exciting new offerings when the platform launches in 2022:

  • Validated recombinant monoclonal antibodies and the plasmids that encode them
  • A resource for sharing practical experimental information on using antibodies

To learn more about this project, head over to the Addgene blog.

In-house NGS thanks to a donation from the Hirsh family!

As you may be aware, Addgene has been using next-generation sequencing for all plasmids deposited since 2017. Now, because of a generous donation from the Hirsh family, we’ve been able to bring NGS in-house! This will help us shorten our QC timelines so that we can bring more plasmids to the community even faster.

🔥 New hot plasmids! 🔥

Every few months we highlight a subset of the new plasmids and viral preps in the repository through our hot plasmids articles. Here's what you'll find in the latest Hot Plasmids:

  • Pooled library for studying antibody escape in SARS-CoV-2
  • Recombinant antibodies for aminoacyl tRNA synthetases
  • Nanocompartments for yeast bioproduction pathways
  • The CRISPR corner
  • New ready-to-use viral preps

Check out the Hot Plasmids article on the blog.

New video series coming up!

If you are new to the lab, teaching a lab course, or training brand new students or technicians in the lab, our new Intro to the Lab Bench protocol series is for you! We’re creating brand new resources including written protocols, quizzes, and video protocols. There will be more coming soon, but check out the first video in the series below.
